Mafia Farm was an MMO game released on the iOS and Android OS in 2011. The game combined farming and the mafia theme, incorporating world-building and pvp raids in the gameplay.

I worked on a custom game engine called the Papaya Game Engine, developed in-house by our partner in China, Papaya Mobile. I lead the Android OS development, release, and subsequent updates. This was a very educational experience because it taught me the workings of a game engine, sometimes debugging it to get to the root of some issues we faced with the game code. I was the liaison with the Papaya Mobile team and worked with their representatives to iron out issues and request custom features in the engine if needed.

Ultimately, I progressed to Senior Software Engineer, Project Manager, and then Live Ops Manager of the game. I would brainstorm holiday themes and competitions with the Product Manager and get the content developed by the art and programming teams (while still working as the sole Android OS programmer for the game). The road to release, with play testing, QA, and bug fixes using a bug reporting portal, was hectic but rewarding when I worked with our Customer Support Team to help users get the best experience out of the game that they could.
